Boulogne-Billancourt is located on the West side of Paris. The city is one the major economic center of the Ile de France area. The city benefits from the most important architectural legacy of the 1930s in France.

The Museum of the 1930s: A unique place, allowing us to travel in an exceptional era through wonderful collections and artefacts, including the original model of the Christ Redeemer statue, Mount Corcovado, Rio. The Roaring Twenties, Art Deco, and Modernism are famous movements you will have the pleasure to discover and follow throughout the museum. 28 André-Morizet Street, 92100 Boulogne Billancourt. Open from Tuesday to Sunday from 11 am to 6 pm. Closed on Mondays and during public holidays.

The Albert Kahn's Museum and Gardens: A collection of seven landscaped gardens that evokes the four corners of the world and presents the archieves of the Planet (largest collection). 10 street du Port - 92100 Boulogne-Billancourt. Merto stration: Pont de Saint Cloud. Open from Tuesday to Sunday from 11 am to 6pm from the 1st of October to the 30th of April and from 11 am to 7 pm from the 1st of May to the 30th of September. Closed on Mondays and sureing public holidays.

The Renault Museum: To discover the history of Renault cars. 27 rue des Abondances 92100 Boulogne Billancourt - Metro station: Porte de Saint Cloud. Open from Tuesday to Thursday from 2 pm to 6 pm. Closed in August. Need to book in advance for groups from 10 to 40 persons.

The Belmondo Museum: Museum dedicated to the works of the sculptor Paul Belmondo and figurative sculpture of the Twentieth Century. 14 Abreuvoir Street, 92100 Boulogne-Billancourt - Métro Saint Cloud. Open from Tuesday to Friday from 2 pm to 6 pm and Saturday to Sunday from 11 am to 6 pm. Closed on Mondays and during public holidays.

A STRONG LINK WITH CHINA:

A unique Chinese sculpture in Boulogne-Billancourt!

Sun Yat Sen (1866-1925), the first President of the Republic of China, is considered the Father of Modern China (successor to the QING dynasty). In 1912, China became Asia's first democracy. Sun Yat Sen bases its political philosophy on the following 3 principles: nationalism, democracy and well-being.

Paul Landowski, a famous French sculptor who lived in Boulogne-Billancourt from 1906 until his death in 1961, was chosen by the Chinese Central Committee to create the gigantic statue (4.6 m high) of the Sun Yat Sen mausoleum in Nanking. The model of this sculpture can be found in the Museum of the 1930s, Espace Paul Landowski. 28 rue André-Morizet in Boulogne-Billancourt.

Deng Xiaoping : Did you know? The famous Chinese Deng Xiaoping worked in Boulogne-Billancourt in the Renault factories. Deng Xiaoping was the General Secretary of the Chinese Communist Party from 1956 to 1967, then the number one of the People's Republic of China from 1978 to 1992. After officially retiring from political affairs, he remained a reference for the regime until his death. Deng Xiaoping is generally considered as the origin of the economic development of China. Few do know this: Deng Xiaoping spent part of his youth in France from 1920 to 1925. During this period, he worked in Boulogne as a worker at the Renault factory in 1925.

ROLAND GARROS & EVENTS :

The Seine Musical: located on the Seguin Island in Boulogne, this national and international music complex with its admirable architecture has a concert hall and an auditorium allowing it to host concerts, musicals and ballets. Join the Ile Seguin by metro, line 9, from Marcel Sembat station to Pont de Sèvres station.

The Parc des Princes: Paris Saint-Germain's emblematic stadium (PSG), the Parc des Princes hosts matches of the Championnat de France when PSG plays at home, European Cup matches but also concerts by topFrench and international artists. From the Olympic Hotel, you can easily reach the Parc des Princes stadium within a 10 minutes’ walk.

Pierre de Coubertin Stadium: The Coubertin stadium hosts annual sporting events such as the World fencing championships, the Open GDF Suez de tennis and the Badminton French Open. Hotel Olympic is a 12 minutes’ walk from the stadium entrance.

Roland Garros : since 1927, the Roland Garros stadium has been temple of international clay court tennis. The stadium stages one of the Grand Slam tennis tournaments: the French Open. Don't miss the Basilica of the Sacred Heart and its breathtaking view of the capital.

Montmartre et la Basilique du Sacré Cœur: In Romano-Byzantine style, the basilica crowns the hill of Montmartre. Begun in 1875, its construction was completed in 1914. Admission is free, but access to the crypt and dome is charged (about 5 euros). To save yourself a little fatigue, you can take the funicular. From the Antwerp metro station, start climbing up the hill to rue Tardieu where the funicular station is located. Until the 19th century, Montmartre was only a village, located outside the walls of the Parisian fortifications. The film Amélie Poulain gives you a nice overview of this place that you must absolutely visit... and which has no less than 7 museums!

The Champs-Elysées: Only the portion of the Champs-Elysées that runs from Place de la Concorde to the Grand Palais allows it to be named "the most beautiful avenue in the world". The rest of the avenue is lined with shops and restaurants that are often too expensive. Feel free to venture into the surrounding streets. Don't forget to visit the Arc de Triomphe, at the top of the avenue, built in the middle of the 18th century to commemorate Napoleonic victories. Opening hours: every day from 9:30 am to 11 pm from April to October and from 10 am to 11 pm from November to March.

Notre Dame de Paris: Construction work began in 1163 and was completed 200 years later, around 1345. The cathedral can accommodate more than 6,000 faithful. Admission is of course free, but if you want to go up the towers, you will have to pay about 6 euros. Opening hours: every day from 8am to 6.45pm. Daily guided tours from 9:30 am to 6:45 pm. Mass times: 8:00, 9:00, noon and 6:45 p.m.

The Eiffel Tower: The "Grande Dame" of Paris was built for the 1889 Universal Exhibition, commemorating the centenary of the Revolution. The Tower is some 324 metres high! Opening hours: June 21 to September 2 from 9am to 12:45pm and the rest of the year from 9:30am to 11:45pm (for the more sporty, access to the stairs is open from 9:30am to 6:30pm).

PARISIAN MUSEUMS

(Re) discover the masterpieces of the Impressionist painters at the Orsay Museum: Manet, Degas, Courbet, Renoir...

Centre National d’Art et de Culture Georges Pompidou: Also known as "Beaubourg", this great original building offers a modern art collection and houses one of the three biggest collections of modern and contemporary art in the world. It also welcomes temporary exhibitions and offers restaurants, a cinema and show halls. The first European Public Library is located on several floors in the building. You may also enjoy breath-taking views of Paris on the last floor. Open from 11:00am to 9:00pm. Closed on Tuesdays.

Musée d’Orsay: Located in the former Orsay Train Station, the museum is located on the Left Bank of Paris (7th district) and houses the largest collection of impressionist and post-impressionist master pieces in the world. Orsay Museum also presents the Western Art from 1848 to 1914 with sculptures, paintings, decorative arts, graphics and photographs. 4,000 works are on permanent display. Open from 9.30am to 6pm and until 9.45pm on Thursday. Closed on Mondays.

Musée du Louvre : Certainly one of the most mythical places in Paris, The Louvre Museum with the famous Pyramid in the heart of Paris offers a collection of art and exceptional antique. With 60,600 m2 and more than 460,000 art works including the famous paintings of Mona Lisa and Venus de Milo, the Louvre Museum is considered as one of the greatest museums in the world. Open from 9:00 am to 6:00pm. Nocturnes on Wednesdays and Fridays until 9:45 pm Closed on Tuesdays.
