A unique Chinese sculpture in Boulogne !

SUN YAT SEN (1866 - 1925)

Sculpture of Paul Landowski, a famous French sculptor that used to live in Boulogne-Billancourt from 1906 until his death, in 1961. The city houses his museum at the place where his workshop was located. 

Sun Yat Sen was the first President of the Republic of China and is considered the Father of Modern China (following the QING dynasty). China has become in 1912 the first Asian democracy.
He based his political philosophy on 3 principles:

  • Nationalism
  • Democracy
  • Well-being

He is unanimously recognized in China.
Moreover, Sun Yat-sen statue was found in Beijing, in a park that took his name.

You will find the reproduction of the sculpture in the Museum of the 1930s. 28 rue André- Morizet in Boulogne Billancourt.

Deng Xiaoping

Did you know? The famous Chinese Deng Xiaoping worked in Boulogne-Billancourt within the Renault factory.  

Deng Xiaoping was the secretary general of the Chinese Communist Party from 1956 to 1967 and later the leader of the People's Republic of China from 1978 to 1992. Although then retired from business, he remained a referent for the regime until his death.

Deng Xiaoping is generally considered to be the cause of economic development of China today.

We may not know it but Deng Xiaoping spent a part of his youth in France from 1920 to 1925.

During this period he worked in Boulogne as a laborer assembler at the Renault plant in 1925.
